Erling Haaland sent a blunt message after Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez comparison
Manchester City new signing Erling Haaland has been sent a blunt message following comparison with Darwin Nunez
Darwin Nunez has been compared to Man City’s Erling Haaland by a Liverpool icon, who also wishes him well.
In light of Manchester City, Liverpool veteran Mark Lawrenson has wished all Premier League teams well.
For the past few seasons, Man City and the Reds have been vying for the Premier League championship.
Liverpool only lost two league games the entire season last time around, but they were still only one point short of the league title.
Both Liverpool and Man City have been active in the transfer market throughout the off-season to bolster their respective teams.
Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, and Calvin Ramsay have all joined the Reds at Anfield.
Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, and Julian Alvarez have all joined the ranks of City.
The latter’s signing is what prompted Lawrenson to address Liverpool and the rest of the top division.
Liverpool’s new striker, Nunez and City’s new signing, Erling Haaland have been contrasted by Lawrenson as being quite different players.
The former Reds defender then issued a warning to the rest of the Premier League as a result.
“Both Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez are goal scorers but they’re both completely different players,” Lawrenson told Paddy Power.
“It shows that you don’t have to have a stereotypical player in that position. They can be different.”
“As we saw with City last year, they won the league without a striker. And now they’ve got one of the world’s best so good luck to everybody else.”
