“I want to join Liverpool”- Frenkie de Jong responds to Liverpool transfer request during World Cup meeting

Fc Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong responds to Liverpool transfer request during World Cup meeting
Liverpool has been linked with the Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong with the Dutchman already receiving requests to head to Anfield.
Frenkie de Jong has revealed he was urged to “join Liverpool ” within days of touching down in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.
The Dutch midfielder will play a significant role in his nation’s effort to win the World Cup for the first time, beginning with their first Group A encounter against Senegal on Monday. On the international stage, though, De Jong is at the forefront of manager Louis van Gaal’s intentions; nevertheless, this is not true of his club football.
Barcelona manager Xavi continues to favor other options in central midfield, keeping the 25-year-old out of the starting eleven.
De Jong came very close to leaving the Nou Camp in the summer but decided to stand by his decision. Now, however, fans are pleading with him to finalize a transfer to Anfield.

On Thursday, De Jong and his teammates from the Netherlands met with migrant workers who had assisted in constructing the World Cup’s stadiums and other facilities in Qatar.
And one of the employees seized the chance to exhibit his true colors by making a cheeky demand of the man from Barcelona.
“It was special for them (migrant workers), but also for us,” De Jong told Dutch outlet AD.NL (via Liverpool Echo ). “It gives us energy and joy.
“A lot of people came and there was no time to have a personal conversation. One guy told me I had to join Liverpool! We loved doing this, but now the focus goes to Senegal.”
De Jong’s future has been unclear for months as Barcelona attempted to force the talented midfielder out of the team during the summer. Barca wanted the youngster off their payroll and was willing to let him go; Manchester United and Chelsea were in transfer negotiations at the time.
Liverpool needs midfield reinforcements and were credited by ESPN as having an interest in signing De Jong.
The Reds are reported to have made contact with De Jong’s representatives over a potential deal, though would have to stump up a significant fee to prise him away.
Before De Jong making it obvious that he had no intention of leaving, United and Chelsea had both reached initial agreements with Barcelona over the summer, for an initial £63 million.
De Jong may be considering his options in light of Sergio Busquets, the captain of Barcelona, who will leave the club at the end of the current campaign.
De Jong may decide to consider moving elsewhere if Xavi is still interested in finding a direct replacement for Busquets. One appealing alternative would be to join Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool, who is De Jong’s international teammate.
