Four things we Observed as Liverpool beat Everton 4-1 in the Merseyside derby
Four things we Observed as Liverpool beat Everton 4-1 in the Merseyside derby.
Liverpool defeated Everton 4-1 in the Premier League on Wednesday night at Goodison Park.
A brace from Mohamed Salah, and one goal each from Jordan Henderson and Diogo Jota, while Demarai Gray scored the only goal for the host.
We take a look at four things we learned from the Red’s outstanding victory.
1. A very strong Liverpool side
Not many expected Liverpool to put out a very strong squad against the Toffees, who have endured a recent poor run of form.
But, Jurgen Klopp had other ideas as he named his strongest starting XI for the first time this season.
A balanced Liverpool side that put up an outstanding performance, dominating in all areas.
2. Out of the traps
Liverpool wasted no time, as they took the lead against Everton with Jordan Henderson’s left-footed strike in the 10th minute. Salah had two great chances. By the 20th minute, it was 2-0. It’s what you expect from Liverpool but in the heat of a derby, this was very remarkable.
3. Record-Breaking Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp’s side became the first Premier League side to score two or more goals in 17 consecutive matches. What an exceptional achievement and that tells the true story of the team at the moment.
Liverpool is scoring goals for fun. Mo Salah is just one of many goal machines in the team.
If any team desire to beat Liverpool, all you need to do is to outscore them.
4. Correction of Last season mistakes
Everton vs Liverpool last season was the beginning of the end for the Reds. With VVD suffering a season-ending injury, Thiago was out of action for two months, this lead to disappointments at the end of last season.
A 4-1 victory at Goodison Park last night, helps erase some of those memories, as though Liverpool corrected their mistakes. Hopefully, it continues from here on.
