Three Best Manchester United players in the 1-1 draw against Young Boys
Three Best Manchester United players in the 1-1 draw against Young Boys.
Manchester United rounded up their final Champions League group game with a 1-1 home draw against Young Boys at Old Trafford.
Interim boss, Ralf Rangnick made quite a number of changes to his starting eleven they featured against Crystal Palace as he fielded the majority of United youngsters and also an opportunity to rotate his squad.
We take a look at the three best performers on the night against Young Boys in no particular order.
1. Dean Henderson
In the absence of David De Gea, the Englishman was presented with a rare opportunity against the Switzerland side. He did put up some brilliant save on the night, but would not be happy with Donny van de Beek’s role in the Young Boys equaliser.
Young Boys needed something special from Fabian Rieder, who fired an unstoppable curling effort into the top corner on the stroke of half-time to beat Henderson.
The 24-year-old did put up a commanding performance which highlighted the need for him to be playing regular first-team football.
His handling was perfect and he was quick out of line when asked. He did not finish the 90 minutes in his second appearance of the season, as Rangnick handed Tom Heaton his Manchester United debut midway through the second half.
Manchester United are reportedly planning to send Henderson on loan next year, as he longs for more playing time.
2. Eric Bailly
The Ivorian international was at his best against the Swiss side and his performance would have been a real plus from the night for Rangnick.
Bailly Performance on the night may prompt calls for him to be given more chances. Maybe Rangnick his fortune will change to what he experienced under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof look to be the first choice partnership with Raphael Varane still recovering from injury, Bailly will be hoping for more chances to stake his claim during the hectic festive period.
The former Villareal man, made more clearance (6) than any other player on the pitch with a perfect blend of composure, aggression, and calmness.
3. Mason Greenwood
Greenwood was given the opportunity to lead the line, as he did at the start of the season. With Ronaldo given a rest on the night.
It was an impressive and mature performance from the youngster who looked a level above the rest of the players on the pitch.
He found the back of the net with a clinical finish. once again showcased his ability to score all types of goals.
Greenwood will most likely be looking forward to cementing a place in Ralf Rangnick starting eleven, he sure deserves an opportunity.
