Watford vs Man United: Five things we observed in Manchester United 4-1 defeat to Watford.

Manchester United’s poor run of form continues as they were humiliated 4-1 by relegation threatened Watford.

Another woeful performance from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. We take a look at five things observed in the defeat.

1. Solskajer abandoned the 5 man defence
Solakjaer made use of a 5 man backline after the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The technique was split by Manchester City. but, he went back to the traditional 4-2-3-1 formation against Claudio Raneri’s side.

The formation did not bring the desired change In a game the Red Devils were expected to dominate and once again a very poor showing from Solakajer’s men.

2. Another Sluggish start
With Ole under pressure united needed to win this game. They started the game slowly coming out of the blocks.
United were guilty of giving away the ball easily and committing errors, as they gave away a penalty early in the first half of the game.
Slow Start has been the major problem of the team and today was no exception.

3. De Gea to the rescue once again
David De Gea did save penalties twice from the spot. He was the only standout player in the Manchester United team, saving their blushes just like he did against City.
The Spaniard made some impressive saves towards the end of the game, but it proved fruitless and Watford did score a few seconds later.
If not for De Gea United would have conceded more than 4 goals.

4. Maguire Woeful Performance
Having netted twice for England in the International break, it was expected he would bring the form to the Premier League.
But not today, as he was sent off for two bookable offences.
Maguire’s celebration against Albania drew its fair share of criticism and the critics will not be any quieter after today’s poor performance.

5. Van Der Beek takes his opportunity
A 2-0 defeat at halftime forced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to introduce Donny van de Beek.
Within minutes of coming off the bench, he headed home to halve the deficit.

The finish looked simple but he had to get himself in position to score, and in doing so, showed an eye for goal and urgency which was lacking throughout the first half.
On the 57th minute, the Dutch International played a great through ball to Cristiano Ronaldo, who saw his shot saved by Ben Foster.
He was once again involved in a tough tackle, unlike him, but this did stress his desire to take his chance and improve United’s overall performance.
