Five potential Candidates for Manchester United Interim manager Job.
Manchester United parted ways with their former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as announced by the club on Sunday morning.
United are in search of an interim manager to fill the vacant space left by Solskjaer between now and the end of the season.
An attempt to get a permanent manager at his point of the season will drag for some time.
We take a look at five potential candidates that United may consider to fill the post.
1. Laurent Blanc
French manager, Laurent Blanc is a top-level coach, with the experience the club may be looking for.
He won titles in France with PSG, we’re he managed striker, Edison Cavani.
He is currently managing Qatar side Al Rayyan, and will not hesitate to take up the job at Old Trafford if presented with the opportunity.
2. Ralf Rangnick
Ralf Rangnick is one of football’s revolutionary figures, viewed as an inspiration for the likes of Jurgen Klopp.
Rangnick implemented a 4-2-2-2 system and also oversaw recruitment during his days at RB Leipzig.
There is a possiblility for United to turn an interim role for Rangnick into a larger position, by moving him upstairs into a director of football.
3. Lucien Favre
Former Dortmund manager Luis Favre is another possible candidate, fit for the post at old Trafford. He managed Dortmund for two years.
The 64-year-old gave Jadon Sancho his debut and could play a big role in getting the winger to perform at a high level. He has champions league experience and have also managed Nice, Borussia Moenchengladbach, and Hertha Berlin.
4. Wayne Rooney
Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is in charge of Championship side, Derby County and have had to overcome some challenges with his team, including financial crisis and points deductions.
Bringing in Rooney would sound like a perfect match. And he will have to manage his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Though he would face an uphill task in managing United as the Championship and Premier League are completely different.
5. Micheal Carrick
The current Manchester United interim manager is also a potential contender.
The club have proven in the past that they don’t necessarily stick to their initial plan.
Churning out a couple of good results and winning the hearts of United fans, may see Carrick being considered for the post until the end of the season.
