Darwin Nunez in tears as Brighton fans sing brutal chants at him
Darwin Nunez was introduced as a late substitute as Liverpool frantically attempted to defeat Brighton at Anfield in the tense Premier League match.
On Saturday afternoon, Darwin Nunez was the target of a brutal abuse from Brighton supporters as Liverpool was held to another another stalemate.
The Reds appeared to have accomplished a spectacular comeback after going from a 2-0 deficit with little over 25 minutes remaining to a 3-2 lead at Anfield.
Leandro Trossard scored a quick-fire double early on, but the hosts took the lead midway through the second half with to two goals from Roberto Firmino and an own goal from Adam Webster.
Trossard appeared at the back post and fired past Alisson in the 83rd minute to complete his incredible hat-trick, Liverpool fans’ hearts were broken. Nunez had to make do with a spot on the bench before he came on to replace Thiago in the 89th minute.
Nunez joined Liverpool from from Benfica this summer for an initial fee of £64 million that could increase to a club-record £85 million.
The 23-year-old, however, was unable to assist his team in securing a crucial victory and was instead jeered by the opposing fans.

In extra time, supporters of the visiting Seagulls could be heard yelling, “You’re just a s*** Andy Carroll,” in reference to the former Liverpool striker who endured a difficult time on Merseyside after moving there for £35 million from Newcastle in January 2011.
Liverpool’s draw with Brighton leaves them 11 points behind league-leaders Arsenal, who earned a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Tottenham earlier on Saturday
