Cristiano Ronaldo disagrees with FA’s charge regarding Man United vs Everton incident
The Football Association accused Cristiano Ronaldo of acting improperly when he smacked a phone out of an Everton fan’s hand following a game last season. Ronaldo has refused to accept the charge.
The FA charged the 37-year-old Manchester United striker with violent/improper conduct as a result of the incident, which happened after United’s 1-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park in April.
As per the Independent, Ronaldo had until Monday to react to the accusation, but after Man United manager Erik ten Hag announced that he has opposed the charge and will not accept it, Ronaldo is now scheduled to appear before the English football’s governing body.
When asked about Ronaldo’s charge, Ten Hag stated via the Independent: “We spoke about that, he will not accept it.”
According to The Athletic, Man United intend to support Ronaldo through his upcoming FA improper conduct hearing and will offer some mitigating facts to support his argument.
After the incident, Ronaldo publicly apologised to the fan and was later cautioned by Merseyside police.
