Barcelona wonderkid gives conditions to join Liverpool as they are ready to trigger his €60 million release clause
Liverpool are interested in signing Gavi, a Barcelona wonderkid with a €60 million release clause in his contract, according to reports.
The 17-year-old midfielder has established himself as one of the game’s most promising young stars. In his breakout season at the Camp Nou in 2021-22, he made 46 appearances, scoring two goals and adding six assists.
Xavi Hernandez, the manager of Barcelona, is desperate to sign the teenager to a new contract before his present one expires next year.

Liverpool are willing to pay whatever it takes to get the Blaugrana starlet to Anfield, according to Sport. However, it appears that the player want to remain at the club where he has been since his move from Real Madrid.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer analyst, recently tweeted that he was optimistic that Gavi will sign a new contract to stay in Catalonia. Along with 19-year-old midfielder Pedri, Gavi is expected to play a vital role in Xavi’s team.
In October, the 17-year-old earned his senior Spain debut, and he has already won seven caps.
The Merseyside club will be looking to add a new centre-midfielder to their squad.
The contract of James Milner is slated to expire at the end of this month. In addition, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to leave Liverpool this summer (via Sports Illustrated).
Luis Enrique: “Gavi is an unknown player. Why? Because people watch Barça and say: ‘oh look at him! He’s so brave, how he fights, how he runs!’ True? Yes. Without the ball. But with the ball, he’s unknown. I can say that loud and clear.”
Liverpool target is praised by a former Barcelona youth coach.
The recent 1-1 tie between Spain and Portugal in the UEFA Nations League on June 2 included a number of world-class players.
Gavi, on the other hand, stood out, putting on a spectacular performance and playing a significant role in Alvaro Morata’s goal for Spain.
Pau Moral, Gavi’s former La Masia coach, thinks he isn’t shocked by how swiftly the teenager has adjusted to life at the top level of European football.
Moral declared to Diario Sport (as translated by Heavy.com):
“I remember the first training perfectly. At that time I was the assistant coach, and it was seeing him touch two balls and we laughed thinking: ‘this boy is different.
“It was touching two balls, getting closer and thinking: ‘what a wonderful player.’ He had just arrived from Betis and it was amazing. He is still very good, really.”
“Everything he is doing is very complicated, because I did not imagine seeing him reach the first team and the Spanish team at 17 years of age. He is still a junior, and it is amazing what he is achieving now.”
