Liverpool handed major injury boost ahead of the Champion League, it could change their season
Liverpool have been handed a major injury boost after manager Jurgen Klopp provided a positive update on forward Diogo Jota’s return to fitness.
Ahead of their game on Saturday against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Klopp was hopeful of Jota’s return
The calf injury the Portuguese international sustained in the Reds’ 1-0 loss to Manchester City at Anfield has kept him out of action since October.
Since then, Liverpool’s problems have persisted, so if they want to turn things around this season, crucial players may return.
In his pre-match press conference, Klopp said: “The boys are training, Diogo Jota had a full session with the team this week but then the next day had again a rehab session, not because of the session the day before, it was just part of the plan. I think he will be back in normal training next week.”
This season, Liverpool’s performance has drastically declined. The Reds have been competing with City at the top of the table for the last few years, but they are currently in 10th place.

It was expected that a drop down would occur due to significant summertime absences and their inability to match the big spenders close.
Injuries haven’t helped, but Jota’s imminent comeback and Virgil van Dijk’s improved recuperation could put a stop to Klopp’s woes.
However, the Dutchman won’t be able to play against Wolves, so the Reds will have to make do with a center-back pairing of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez, with Ibrahima Konate also out.
Wolves will see this as an opportunity to take points off a wounded Liverpool and move further away from relegation trouble.
Both sides have a huge amount to prove which should make it a fascinating contest at Molineux.
