“he could be one”- Paul Ince suggests next Manchester United captain
“he could be one”- Paul Ince suggests next Manchester United captain.
Paul Ince has proposed Scott McTominay as a possible replacement for Harry Maguire as Manchester United captain.
Speaking at Premier League Productions, Ince tipped United midfielder Scott McTominay as the potential successor to the Maguire armband.
The Scottish international certainly performed in the game against Burnley worthy of being called a skipper.
He scored an excellent goal in United’s 3-1 win against Burnley and came close to increasing his account numerous times.
It was the midfielder’s first goal of the campaign, but he fired the ball past Wayne Hennessey just like a forward.
Away from the penalty area, the 25-year-old did put up an impressive display in the middle of the park at Old Trafford field.
A display that needs to be repeated on a regular basis if he is to secure a permanent place in Ralf Rangnick’s starting eleven.
“Me and Michael (Owen) were speaking about we think Maguire’s performances haven’t been great this season,” said the former Red Devil.
“I said to Michael, maybe it might be a case of taking the armband away from Maguire and let him concentrate on his performances.
“I think that could be your answer. If he keeps putting in performances, he could be one of those who could get the armband.”
Former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie has joined others in criticising the Manchester United Harry Maguire poor exhibition.
The Scotsman Even said that at 62, he wouldn’t mind locking horns with Maguire on the pitch.
“I would fancy myself against Harry Maguire,” Frank McAvennie told Football Insider.
“I’m 62 and I would love to play against him. He was awful in That Newcastle match,” he added.
“Everyone in red was poor but Maguire does this every week. How he cost £80million I will never know. The way he’s playing, £8million would have been a rip-off. He’s such a problem for them.
“He always makes mistakes and they can’t get rid of him. No one in their right mind would sign Harry Maguire. Premier League strikers must be so happy to see his name on the teamsheet, he’s a striker’s dream.”
