Following a red card for summer signing Darwin Nunez, Liverpool’s sluggish start to the new Premier League season continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace.

The Reds dropped two points as they battled out a competitive draw at newly promoted Fulham on the first day of the season, closing the gap on likely title rivals Manchester City.

With only two games played, they have already fallen four points behind Pep Guardiola’s champions after another mistake on their return to Anfield.

Of course, the situation could have been worse for the hosts who, after dominating the first half, fell behind to a cool Wilfried Zaha breakaway goal.

Nunez’s unnecessary headbutt on Joachim Andersen, which rightfully resulted in him being given an early bath, made their mission even more difficult.

But in the second half, a fantastic Luis Diaz solo saved a point for Jurgen Klopp’s team. It’s not a result the manager will particularly treasure, though.

Naby keita helped win the ball high in the Reds half before unleashing the Egyptian King down the right flank.

The former Roma forward drove towards the Seagulls’ box and instead of opting to switch the ball to Cody Gakpo on the other side of the area, he slid a neat pass into Elliott who slotted past Jason Steele in the Brighton goal.

(VIDEO ) Goal!! Watch: Casemiro stuns Old Trafford with long-range effort to double Man United lead

Manchester United have one foot in the next round of the FA Cup after a quickfire double from Casemiro eased any fears that the Reds were in for a long evening.

Marcus Rashford had a first-half goal disallowed by VAR but it didn’t take long after the interval for United to claim an advantage over Paul Ince’s side.

Antony and Casemiro combined to score the opening goal and it was the latter who would double United’s lead, as seen below.

However, if a single shooting exercise during practice is any indication, it’s possible that the Egyptian King will soon be back to his terrifyingly effective best in front of goal as we press for a top-four push.

When the forward grabbed a lofted ball on the volley and placed his effort in the top-right corner, his teammates cheered in admiration.

Rashford gives Ten Hag’s side the perfect start as Casemiro finds him inside his half, but in behind Aurier.

He gets the ball, drives down the left and skips by Worrall and Freuler before rifling in a strike at the near post with his left once in the box.

Eddie Nketiah bagged an injury-time winner to send Arsenal five points clear at the top of the Premier League table as the gunners secured a stunning 3-2 win over Manchester United.

Nketiah netted twice, either side of a Bukayo Saka stunner, while Marcus Rashford netted a wonderful solo goal of his own before Lisandro Martinez equalised for the visitors in the second half.

Mike Arteta’s side came out the blocks quickest in the opening 15 minutes with United hardly having a touch of the ball in their opponent’s final third, but it was the visitors who soon took the lead against the run of play with a moment of magic from Rashford.

Having picked up the ball in the middle of the pitch, he nutmegged Thomas Partey before dribbling forward and unleashing a fierce low-shot from 20 yards that flew past Aaron Ramsdale.

But Arsenal are a team that don’t roll over anymore and that fighting spirit was clear for all to see as Nketiah had them level just seven minutes later.

Some neat team build-up play led to Granit Xhaka putting in a delightful cross to the back post where Nketiah headed home unmarked from close range with right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka caught napping.

Saka had tormented England teammate Luke Shaw all match and on 53 minutes he cut inside his man and drilled a stunning shot into De Gea’s far post right into the bottom left corner to put them in front.

United weren’t letting the league leaders take three points without putting up a fight of their own though, as Martinez reacted quickest to head home from a corner that Ramsdale flapped at.

Nketiah provided an instinctive finish to poke the ball past De Gea from Odegaard’s goal-bound effort and spark a frenzy inside the Emirates Stadium.
