Three first-team players set to be offloaded by Liverpool in order to fund Luis Diaz transfer deal.
Liverpool are close to announcing the signing of Porto winger Luis Diaz on a five-year deal and the new arrival could lead the club to sell some first-team players.
The Reds are ready to sell Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi, and Nat Phillips in the last two days of the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Reds are set to announce the signing of Luis Diaz on a five-year contract worth £90,000 per week from Porto after overcoming competition from Tottenham.
Diaz will cost the Red a whopping sum of €45m, plus €15m in add-ons. The forward is set to undergo a medical in Argentina this weekend.
As Per The Athletics Minamino, Origi and Phillips are the three players who could realistically attract late attention in.
Diaz has registered 16 goals and four assists in 26 appearances for Porto this season, playing on the left side of the attack.
The Columbia international is signed to compete for places and serve as back for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino, who are Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice attackers.
On the other hand, Minamino has only managed six starts in all competitions so far this season and hasn’t made much of an impact since joining from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020 for £7.25m.
Leeds United and Monaco are both reportedly interested in the Japan international, who valued at around £20m.
Origi holds cult hero status at Liverpool, but is out of contract this summer and is on the radar of Newcastle United and Atalanta, according to the report and consider letting him go before Monday’s 11 pm deadline.
Phillips has been on the market for the right price all month, but Liverpool have yet to receive an offer in the region of £15m, which they would consider acceptable.
The 24-year-old center-back is way down the pecking order and has played just three times so far this season.
Liverpool rejected a £7m bid for Phillips from Watford, while Newcastle are interested in taking him on loan.
