Pepe tells Jurgen Klopp what to expect from Liverpool new signing Luis Diaz

Luis Diaz is getting closer to signing for Liverpool after the Reds withstood competition from Tottenham and his Porto team-mate Pepe has highlighted the qualities possed by the Colombian.

Ahead of Luis Diaz’s proposed move to Anfield his Porto teammate Pepe has hailed him as “the example of professionalism and passion”.

The Colombian is among the highest-rated players in Portugal and has attracted interest from the Premier League.

Tottenham were linked with a move this month, which has forced Liverpool’s hand and appears to have won the race.

Diaz is set to move to Anfield for a deal worth £50m with a medical to come this weekend.

Former Real Madrid defender Pepe highlighted the way the 25-year-old was going about his business earlier this season.

He said: “Luis Díaz is the example of the professionalism and passion we have in playing for FC Porto, we know of the importance of wearing this shirt, and I am proud to share the locker room with Luis Díaz and others.”

Fellow countryman, Jackson Martinez, who was also formerly of Porto, also complimented Diaz for his style and graft off the ball.

“He is an impressive player, very hardworking, with great skills, has a goal, can assist, and has impressive physical ability. He is in his prime and must take advantage of it.”

He also added: ”If this continues, it will be difficult to stay at FC Porto. someone will pay the clause easily”.

His signing could have repercussions at Anfield with Jurgen Klopp no ​​doubt evaluating his options before the new arrival.

The arrival of Diaz may pave the way for Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi who have both been linked with January exits.
