The Portuguese playmaker has attracted admiring looks from other parts of Europe as a result of his outstanding achievements in Liga NOS.

Despite Sporting failing to hold onto the championship that they won in 2021, the 23-year-old scored four goals and recorded as many assists in all competitions last season.

Wolves and Chelsea have also been said to be interested in hiring him. Liverpool have also been mentioned as potential suitors.

He is reportedly being considered by the Blues as a potential replacement for Frenkie de Jong, who is a top target for Manchester United.

With four years left on his contract in his native country and manager Amorim’s confirmation that the midfielder has already turned down several lucrative offers to move on, Nunes doesn’t seem likely to be moving anytime soon.

I’m glad Matheus Nunes is still here, he said, as reported by Portuguese publication Record. I’m glad that Sporting’s athletes, like Matheus Nunes, turn down lucrative offers in order to remain with the club.

“This is my reality, I am very happy with my squad and my players are the best in the world.”

Jurgen Klopp has chosen to postpone his search for a high-priced signing until the summer of 2019.
