Flamengo midfielder Joao Gomes spoke about Liverpool back in summer and new links have emerged over the midfielder
After excelling for Flamengo, highly regarded Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes has been linked with a move to the Premier League. The 21-year-old has already stated, “Liverpool are a team I’d play for.”

Aurelien Tchouameni was linked with a move to the Reds during the summer, but he ultimately chose to join Real Madrid. Instead, Liverpool ended up signing Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus on deadline day.
Liverpool and Manchester United, two of the biggest names in the Premier League, may be keeping a close eye on Gomes, according to recent rumors out of Brazil.
Gomes was asked on Instagram live last month about the potential of heading to the Premier League, and specifically Liverpool.
“Liverpool are a team I’d play for. I have the greatest desire to play,” said Joao Gomes (via ESPN Brazil ).
“Playing in the Champions League is my biggest dream and that of my family, my biggest dream in football.”
According to journalist Julio Miguel Neto, Liverpool is getting ready to make a bid for Gomes in either the January or summer 2019 transfer window. Jurgen Klopp is reportedly a huge fan of the midfielder.
According to reports, Erik ten Hag was willing to spend more than £32 million to bring Gomes to Old Trafford in the summer.
The Reds and United may have to compete for Gomes’ services in the upcoming transfer window.
