Reports – Liverpool star to be included in January swap deal for experienced £30m Premier League midfielder

Liverpool star and English international who has been injury prone Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may be included as part of a swap deal for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz in January.

Earlier this summer, the Villa Park team turned down three offers from Arsenal (totaling up to £25 million) for the Brazilian, but given that Steven Gerrard is rumored to be a major fan of Liverpool’s No. 15, a move is apparently being considered, according to the Express.

With Jurgen Klopp still looking to strengthen his midfield options despite the loan signing of Arthur Melo on deadline day, Oxlade-Chamberlain, a former Southampton and Arsenal player, has yet to appear for the Reds so far this season due to a hamstring injury he sustained during his team’s preseason trip to Asia. As a result, this is a deal that could work well for all parties.

The Villa star reportedly recently wanted to go from Villa Park to the Emirates, but his club insisted that he would not be traded.

He is frequently used as a deep-lying midfielder, and he is capable of disrupting play and enhancing the performance of those around him.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has previously referred to Gerrard as his “hero,” so it makes sense that the 35-cap England international would be eager to learn from the former Liverpool captain given that his playing time is expected to be restricted on Merseyside once more this season.

In 29 appearances for Klopp’s team last season (in all competitions), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain notched three goals and three assists, but he only made 17 Premier League appearances as the Reds battled Manchester City for the league title until the very last day.

The 29-year-old has experienced recurring injuries throughout his career and is now in the penultimate year of his contract at Anfield, but on his best days, he can be a tremendous game-changer.

In order to conclude a move for Brazilian international Luiz, 24, who may be ready to join many of his South American countrymen on Merseyside, it may make sense for the Reds to transfer the midfielder.
