Reports; Jurgen Klopp can sign ‘German Philippe Coutinho’ if FSG sanctions Liverpool transfer
Liverpool Fc are keeping tabs on starlet compared to Philippe Coutinho. A deal that makes perfect sense but would need to be done quickly.
Jurgen Klopp has signed players from the Bundesliga surprisingly little during his time at Liverpool so far, with only 23 percent of the arrivals have come from Germany. but that could very well increase in the summer.
The player who could as well be on the move this year is Bayer Leverkusen star, Florian Wirtz.
The 18-year-old has a goal contribution every 84 minutes this season in all competitions to date, including the Europa League, and has become a good target man for the team.
“He is on the focus of many Premier League clubs,” BILD’s head of football, Christian Falk, told Liverpool.com earlier this season.
“I heard about scouts from Man City, but also Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Arsenal, so the English are keen on him! But Bayern Munich would like to have him too.
“He is like a German version of Philippe Coutinho. We never had a Brazilian [player in terms of style] within the national team and not in the future!
“But that is not a problem because he is doing things very quickly, very good with the ball, and the Brazilian version is technique and the German version very straight on [and direct].
“Jürgen Klopp has a physical, German-style in Liverpool and [a move for Wirtz] would work because everything you need, he has already, and of course, you can make it better.
“Leverkusen says there is no release clause but I’m not sure about that. The man who was saying this was [Leverkusen sporting director] Rudi Völler and he has already been saying that in his job, he has to lie sometimes, so maybe he has to do it again…”
However, the reports suggest Wirtz would cost at least €50m (£42m), and with plenty of interest and a goals return that is ever-increasing, the chances are it could be close to double that by the time he moves on.
