Paul Pogba reacts to reports of £500,000 per week contract offer from Manchester United
Manchester United star midfielder Paul Pogba has responded to sensational claims that the club offered him a £500,000 contract a week.
The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford as he enters the final six months of his current contract.
He can talk to foreign clubs ahead of a potential blockbuster free transfer at the end of the season.
It had been reported that Man United offered the Former Juventus star a new contract to prevent a free transfer.
The report stated that United had tabled a fresh contract offer worth £500,000 per week in a bid to convince the Frenchman to commit his future to the Old Trafford club.
However, spokesperson for Pogba has dismissed claims of a new contract, saying he’s fully focused on returning to action following his injury.
“To clarify media reports, Paul has not been offered a new contract in recent months,” the spokesperson told the Daily Mail.
“Paul is fully focused on his recovery from injury with the aim of helping the team as soon as possible.”
Pogba is on the sidelines through injury after picking up a knock while on international duty for France national team.
Pogba is yet to feature under United interim manager Ralf Rangnick, and the German revealed in a Press Conference that it will take another ‘four or five weeks before he’s back in training.
“As far as I know, I was told a week ago, it would be a minimum of at least another four or five weeks before he is fit for training again,” he told the club’s website.
“I saw him this morning before the training session, he was in the locker room, and I hope he will be back as soon as possible.
“Right now, he’s not been part of the training group and, even if he was back whenever, two, three, or four weeks, it will take some time.”
Pogba has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, as well as his former club Juventus.
