Liverpool’s latest signing sends fresh message to fans as he outlines his goals and ambitions for the club.

Liverpool made significant progress over the off-season and transfer window, announcing their first major signing of the summer.

It’s unclear whether the Merseyside club will make any other acquisitions in the coming weeks, as they are anticipated to let a few squad players leave.

Nunez’s arrival was confirmed by the Reds earlier in the day on Tuesday.

According to the Athletic, Benfica would pay £64 million upfront for the attacker and an additional £21 million in additions, bringing the total to £85 million. Nunez said he was caught aback by the structure of the club and the trophies after being named a Liverpool player.

He went on to say that he wants to win trophies with the Merseyside club:

“When I arrived at the training ground, I was really surprised to see the set-up and the structure and all the trophies here.

“You can then imagine yourself winning more trophies and then later on when you come here again and see the trophies on display, you can say, ‘Look, I was a part of that, I was there at that time, winning trophies.’

“That’s one of the reasons why I came here to Liverpool – to win trophies and titles. I want to win a lot of trophies at Liverpool”
