Premier League powerhouses Saidou Sow of Guinea and AS Saint-Etienne has reportedly been watched by Liverpool scouts.

The Reds’ scouts were present during Guinea’s African Cup of Nations Qualifier versus Egypt on June 5 in Cairo, according to L’Equipe (via CaughtOffside). The Pharoahs won 1-0 thanks to an 87th-minute winner, putting Sow on the losing side.

Sow started the game in the middle of the defense and had a good game. He was notably preceded by Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita, who is also Guinea’s captain.

In the 2021-22 season, Sow, the liverpool transfer target appeared 14 times for Saint-Etienne, scoring twice and assisting once. In total, he has made 30 appearances for the Ligue 1 club in all competitions. The Reds don’t necessarily need to improve their defensive alternatives in the middle.

In the middle of the defense, they have Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez.

At 30 years old, Matip and Van Dijk are the oldest of the four, indicating that they still have a few years left in them.

Gomez is 25, and Konate, who joined last summer, is only 23. Gomez has been linked with a liverpool transfer move away from Anfield (via the Mirror). Sow, who has already won 11 caps for Guinea, has a contract with Saint-Etienne that runs until the summer of 2025.
