Liverpool told to sell “legend player” amid Newcastle transfer links
Liverpool have been told to sell “legend player” amid Newcastle transfer links
A Liverpool player was once referred to as a “legend” by Jurgen Klopp “needs to leave” Anfield amid Newcastle transfer links says Sam Allardyce.
The term “legend” is often used without thought in the world of football. Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp had referred to striker Divock origin as as a Legend of the club.
“In 10 years’ time when we look back [Origi] will be a Liverpool legend. But he is too young to be already seen as a legend now so he has to play football,” said Klopp in September.
The 26-year-old has rarely been more than a fringe player in red. However, that has not stopped him from engraving his name in Liverpool folklore.
Origi is famous for scoring twice as the Reds pulled off a remarkable comeback in the second leg against Barcelona to reverse a three-goal deficit.
He then scored in the 2019 Champions League final and was later memorably netted the winner against Everton.
However, despite his heroics, at the club at the expense of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have never been forthcoming.
Origin has been linked with a move away from Anfield, season after season, yet he remains.
Former Newcastle manager, Sam Allardyce has said it is now time for Origi to finally step out of the shadows.
Speaking to SportBIBLE Allardyce was asked who he’d buy if put in charge of transfer budget for Newcastle’s United.
“I’ve always thought Origi needs to leave Liverpool,” the 67-year-old said. “And budget-wise, he’d probably be a lot cheaper than a Harry Kane, for example.
“Even though he’s done a brilliant job for Liverpool, he needs to be a first-team player every week. Perhaps Newcastle could give him that opportunity to flourish.”
With Sadio Mane and Mo Salah out on duty in the 2021 AFCON in January. Liverpool will be reluctant to let the Belgium International leave in the winter window transfer.
This will afford Origi the opportunity to make the red’s first team, at least before the return of the duo of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.
