Liverpool star Sadio Mane has finally agreed a deal to join Bayern Munich

According to reports in the British press, Bayern Munich and Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Sadio Mane.

Bayern Munich will pay a sum of around £35 million for the 30-year-old Senegalese forward, who had a year left on his current Liverpool contract.

The former Southampton forward is expected to undergo medical next week.

Mane will depart Liverpool after 269 appearances and 120 goals in all competitions, a great performance that helped the team win the Champions League in 2018-19 and the Premier League the following season.

Last season, he was one of Liverpool’s standout performers, netting 23 goals as the Reds won the domestic cup double and only narrowly missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.

Following his £34 million move from Southampton in June 2016, Mane won six trophies in total, forming a strong attacking combination alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Klopp praised Mane as “world-class” and compared him to a “machine” last month, but the player reportedly turned down a new deal because he was looking for a new challenge.

Mane was Klopp’s first key signing after taking over the club, as the German sought to rebuild the club and return it to the top after years of disappointing results.

The acquisition of the Senegal international was transformative, as his combination of quickness, trickery, and work off the ball helped Liverpool qualify for the Champions League in just his first season.

Mane will replace Bayern’s Poland star striker Robert Lewandowski who has repeatedly said he wants to leave and has been linked to Barcelona.

Following the arrivals of Ajax Amsterdam duo Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazrouai, Mane will become Bayern’s third acquisition of the close season.
