Liverpool makes huge offer for spectacular Uruguayan star defender
According to reports Liverpool have offered a six-figure per week contract to Barcelona defence Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan could leave Nou Camp at the end of the season.
The report claims that Barcelona have offered just over £4m per year to their centre-back, Ronald Araujo, as per ESPN. The defender’s contract expires in 2023, making this an important year for him.
Araujo could well choose not to sign a new contract. That would almost certainly force Barcelona to sell him this summer, only to receive some sort of transfer fee. With their current financial situation offering them little choice.
Also, the report added that the Catalan’s problem, then, is that other clubs are apparently willing to pay Araujo far more.
The likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are understood to be interested in bringing the Uruguayan international to the Premier League and have made it known that they’ll give Araujo about £6.6m per year.
£6m per year works out to around £127k per week. That’s a fairly sizeable wage for a player who may not entirely sure make the Reds starting lineup.
