Liverpool handed major Mohamed Salah boost ahead of Chelsea clash

Liverpool have received a major boost ahead of an all-important clash against rivals Chelsea in January.

Reds superstar Mohamed Salah is expected to join up with the Egyptian national team before the new year, ahead of the forthcoming Africa cup of nations.

But according to reports Egypt and Liverpool have reached an agreement to allow Salah to stay at the club till after January 2.

The 29-year-old would be forced to miss out on returning to his former club due to his participation in the African Cup of Nations next month.

Egypt is scheduled to begin its AFCON campaign against Nigeria on January 11, just nine days after the Reds’ trip to Stamford Bridge.

However, Liverpool reached an agreement with the Egyptian Federation to release Salah immediately after the clash with Thomas Tuchel’s men.

And so the prolific winger will be available to Jurgen Klopp for what could be a crucial tie in the race for the Premier League title.

As for Salah teammates, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita, it is not certain that the Senegalese and Guinean football Federations will afford them the same privileges.

But even a run to the Afcon final for either of those players would only result in them missing another two Premier League games.

Klopp has already received a significant boost with the news that the Covid-hit trio Virgil van Dijk, Curtis Jones, and Fabinho will return to face Leicester on December 28.
