Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool is possible as PSG star set to leave in January

Despite signing a Lucrative new deal in the summer, Kylian Mbappe has made headlines by stating that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January, according to the Spanish news outlet Marca.

They claim the relationship between Mbappe and PSG is “completely broken” and there is “no turning back.”

Mbappe feels PSG have “betrayed” him.

The French striker appeared to criticise Christophe Galtier’s tactics after the team’s weekend 0-0 draw with Reims.

However, you would be greatly mistaken if you believed that a transfer to Real Madrid, who were strongly linked with the Frenchman last summer, would be a simple formality.

This is due to the report’s claim that PSG views Mbappe as a player who should play any place than Real Madrid.

According to Marca, the only club PSG would “open the doors for” is Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side did attempt to sign Mbappe last summer but couldn’t compete with the financial strength of Real Madrid and PSG.

Speaking earlier in the year Klopp said “So, about Kylian Mbappe…of course, we are interested in Kylian Mbappe, we are not blind!

“Actually, I have nothing to say about [reported contact] but between Kylian and Liverpool, it’s all set, it’s all fine. We of course like him and if you don’t like him, you have to question yourself”.

It still seems unlikely that Liverpool would offer money to a deal to bring in Mbappe. Because of the massive new contract, he signed in the summer, the 23-year-old would demand a transfer fee much in excess of £100 million.

Then, when you take into account his salary, it seems increasingly unthinkable that the Merseyside club will go over budget for Mbappe.

After handing Mohamed Salah a huge new contract lately, Liverpool won’t have much room in their wage structure to pay Mbappe a similar price.

It remains to be seen whether FSG will be willing to be involved in what many will see as one of the most expensive transfers in football history.
