Klopp given green light to box-office Liverpool January signing after ‘huge news’

Liverpool are pushing ahead with signing a new midfielder in January after Arthur Melo’s devastating blow,  according to Football Insider.

The deadline-day loanee arrival from Juventus is facing up to four months on the sidelines with a muscle injury sustained in training.

Liverpool intends to use the January transfer window to bolster a midfield that has already been severely hampered by a string of key player injuries.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has given the club’s recruitment team the go-ahead to scale up their preparations to sign a midfielder who can join the first team right away.

It might be a short-term fix like Melo or perhaps a long-term box office target the club has been eyeing.

Jude Bellingham is thought to be Liverpool’s main target heading into the new year, and they are reportedly laying the foundation for what could be a club-record transfer.

The world’s top teams, though, are fiercely vying for the Borussia Dortmund sensation, and if his excellent form persists, the race could heat up much more.

Football Insider stated that Klopp is also a major fan of Declan Rice, whose contract with West Ham expires in the summer of 2024 and who has turned down offers to extend it.
