Kevin De Bruyne fires shots at Liverpool following Man City thrashing over Newcastle
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne appeared to have taken a subtle dig at Liverpool after the Premier League Champions edged ahead of their rivals on Sunday, with a cheeky tweet.
The Reds dropped precious points against Tottenham on Saturday night, allowing City to take full advantage by smashing Newcastle 5-0 at the Etihad to open up a three-point lead over their rivals at the top of the table.
Two goals from Raheem sterling and a goal each from Aymeric Laporte, Rodri and Phil Foden gave the Citizens a resounding win.
De Bruyne was influential for City throughout the encounter, despite not scoring, and the Belgian maestro couldn’t resist a little dig at Liverpool on social media later that night.

After Liverpool briefly leapfrogged City at the top of the table last week, the Premier League tweeted an assortment of pictures of the Reds win with the caption: “One step closer,” only for the tweet to be deleted.
When City fans wondered where their own version of the tweet was when they regained control of the title race, De Bruyne rose to the challenge, delighting City supporters.
De Bruyne’s cheeky tweet came just hours after City manager Pep Guardiola upped the ante in the title race with a spectacular post-match press conference attack on Liverpool.
