‘Just beautiful’ – Watch former reds star Sadio Mane reflects on his time at Liverpool and winning one trophy in particular
The former Liverpool man Sadio Mane has been speaking about his time at Liverpool and winning the Champions League.
The Senegal star left Anfield earlier this summer to join Bayern Munich, where he will be trying to add to his already amazing collection of championships.

The former Red won every major prize imaginable when he was on Merseyside, and he has since thought back on his time at Liverpool.
“Honestly, I will never forget my time there. I learned a lot – as a man and as a football player,”he told UEFA.com (via 90 Min).
“The supporters were amazing, the people from the city were amazing. It is a club that will stay in my heart forever.
“It is also a legendary club – they have won everything. And also, it is the club that had all the best Champions League nights.”
Mane joined Jurgen Klopp’s team in 2015 and immediately made an impact. He came from Southampton.
In 269 club games, the Senegal international scored 120 goals and recorded 38 assists.
In Madrid in 2019, when Liverpool overcame Spurs 2-0 in the Champions League final, it was one of his most memorable nights.
The 30-year-old has talked about defeating the North London team to win the club’s sixth European Cup.
“I remember the second goal that Divock Origi scored very well,” Mane added. “I was over the moon at that moment. I couldn’t believe it. I just thought back to my childhood, when I was watching the Champions League.
“I also took a lot of pleasure in watching the excitement surrounding the competition. I found myself playing a final and, more importantly, winning it. It was amazing – 2019 was an outstanding year. The celebrations, the club…
“You just had to be there to understand. I think over half a million people were out in the streets waiting for us to parade our trophy. It was just beautiful.”
There was concern that with our former No. 10 leaving the club this season, we would sorely miss him on the left wing after he converted the penalty that gave Mo Salah the lead against Spurs.
Despite our sadness at seeing him leave for the Bundesliga, Luis Diaz is doing more than adequate in Mane’s absence. He was a terrifying front three player along with Salah and Bobby Firmino.
