In Liverpool’s preseason match against Strasbourg, Jürgen Klopp might have stumbled across a second Roberto Firmino. In 2020, the team surpassed Bayern Munich to re-sign him.

Instead of spending too much time thinking about Liverpool’s loss to Strasbourg, Jürgen Klopp will consider the advantages that game will have had on his team’s younger players.

The purpose of preseason has been to provide some of the club’s youth youngsters a chance to stand out and become a part of the Liverpool first team.

There were a few people that made an effect that would stay, like Stefan Bajcetic.

However, Melkamu Frauendorf, who made his professional debut against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup last year, also displayed a lot of promise.

The 18-year-old German youth international has had a standout first couple of seasons at the club’s academy in Kirkby after Liverpool beat Bayern Munich to his signature two summers ago.

One of his best qualities in his academy career so far has been his tactical nuance. He is intelligent and quick with the ability to make an impact in the final third.

In his first few appearances for Liverpool’s first team, Frauendorf has played almost everywhere for the club’s under-18 team.

Frauendorf played as a winger against Shrewsbury, but in a preseason match against Manchester United, he was a full-back.

Then, in the number nine position, he played a Roberto-Firmino-like role versus Strasbourg.
