“I’m just getting started” – Watch Liverpool Latest signing Darwin Nunez sends the perfect message in response to early Liverpool criticism
Darwin Nunez, a striker for Liverpool, has already faced some odd criticism for one of his greatest virtues.
Since signing with Liverpool in the summer, Darwin Nunez has only played for one hour.
Amazingly, despite that, the Uruguayan striker’s performances against Manchester United and Crystal Palace drew some criticism.

The 23-year-old failed to score in either of the friendlies despite appearing to pounce on a few opportunities that were provided to him.
Though it is one of his greatest hidden assets, his finishing has now come under scrutiny in some circles.
Nunez established his value for Benfica last season. His finishing was extremely effective during the entire campaign, and he established himself as one of the most lethal attackers available.
He scored 27.2 percent of the goals he attempted in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, which put him in first place among all players with at least 55 shots on goal in his league.
Nunez actually had the highest rate of goal-to-shot conversion among players in the top five leagues in Europe.
Over the past year, he’s shown himself to be a relentless marksman who can seize opportunities when they present themselves.
Only a select few players across Europe’s top five leagues took more than 50 shots and connected on at least 50% of them: Neymar, Martin Terrier, Moussa Diaby, Memphis Depay, Francesco Caputo, Vinicius Junior, and Wissam Ben Yedder.
Ben Yedder, Juanmi, and Son Heung-min, the player with the highest average.
Over the course of his career, Nunez has taken 10 penalties for Benfica and Almeria, scoring on each one. 13 of his 22 non-penalty goals from the previous season in the Portuguese top division were first-time goals.
Overall, Nunez appears to be the best marksman according to the data, despite what some early critics may try to claim. It should take a little while for him to demonstrate that for Liverpool.
The club’s confidence in data science and analytics is well known, and based on the numbers associated with his performance, fans should not worry.
