“If they pay”- World Cup winner’s father sends message to Arsenal and Liverpool over possible summer transfer
The father of Brighton and Argentina star Alexis Mac Allister has sent a message to Arsenal and Liverpool over a potential summer move for the midfielder.
The midfielder won the World Cup with his country in December, playing an increasingly crucial role for Lionel Scaloni’s side as the tournament progressed.
He provided the assist for Angel Di Maria’s goal to put Argentina 2-0 up, in what was his second goal contribution of the competition in Qatar. He scored in the 2-0 group stage victory over Poland which sealed Argentina’s progression to the knockout stages.
Since then, the 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Seagulls, despite their impressive season to date under Graham Potter and current boss Roberto De Zerbi.
Liverpool and Arsenal are two clubs who are reportedly interested in his services. And speaking to Tuttomercato (via Inside Futbol) in December, the player’s father, Carlos Mac Allister claimed he had held talks with two unnamed clubs.

Now, he has sent the Gunners and the Reds another warning over Mac Allister’s future.
Speaking to TyC Sports, Carlos explained that his son is happy at Brighton, but the new contract he signed prior to the World Cup could provide an opportunity for interested clubs to sign him – if they pay a large fee.
He explained: “For now, he is at Brighton.
“It seems to me a very good thing that he has returned from the World Cup and has not despaired about leaving, enjoying success calmly and in peace, in a team that loves him very much.
“The reception he received has been the best. He is very well in the club.
“We all know that in July there will be possibilities to be able to leave. But prior to the World Cup, Alexis renewed his contract so that the club also has the opportunity of an important transfer, so that a lot can reach Brighton. It is the idea.”
