According to the Italian magazine Corriere Torino, Liverpool has given Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt a “leading position” in Jürgen Klopp’s squad (via Paisley Gates).

De Ligt, whose contract has two years remaining, is worth about €70 million (£60 million).

Although he is a quality defender, Liverpool is well-stocked at the back and was rumored to be interested in him when he moved from Ajax to Italy in 2019.

Jol Matip, Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konaté, De Ligt’s international teammate Virgil van Dijk, who began the Champions League final, are all available to Klopp.

Calvin Ramsay, a Wales international who was signed by Liverpool from Aberdeen, has a £15 million price tag. The 21-year-old made a strong impression at Fulham in the second half of the previous season, but Liverpool does not want to approve a loan agreement for the player.

Williams was originally expected to return to Fulham, and while they might still do so, Forest may also be a desirable option. Williams needs consistent playing time to guarantee that he starts for his nation at the World Cup.
