Arsenal transfer news: Arsenal tipped to beat Liverpool to the transfer of sensational Real Madrid forward.
Liverpool Fc and Arsenal are the top contenders to sign Real Madrid man Marco Asensio, according to reports in Spain — but Steve McManaman says a move to the Emirates stadium would suit him best.
“If (he was to move to) a club next year I’d say it would be Arsenal,” McManaman told Horseracing.net.
“Aubameyang’s coming to the end of his career — or he’s certainly into his 30s — and with Lacazette in a similar position and coming to the end of his contract, Asensio could be at a club where he’d probably have more joy of playing.”
Borussia Dortmund and Juventus have also been linked with moves for the Spanish international, who is looking for more regular playing time at this moment of his career.
Asensio joined Real Madrid from Mallorca in 2014 for a reported fee of €3.9m and recently extended his deal with the club till 2023.
