Reports; Liverpool drop major hints they could make £60 million bid to sign 25-year-old Serie A midfield superstar in January
Liverpool could reportedly make a £60 million move for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella in the January 2023 transfer window.
Calciomercato (via HITC) report that the Liverpool are keen to add a midfielder to their ranks following the arrival of Arthur Melo on loan this summer.

According to the Italian publication, Liverpool is getting ready to make a £60 million offer for the Inter midfielder in January.
The Serie A powerhouses are also willing to let Barella leave now rather than keeping him throughout the just-completed summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old Barella, who still has four years left on his current contract with the Nerazzurri, has also been linked to moves to Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Due to an injury crisis, the Reds were lacking in midfield options, thus this summer they signed Juventus’ Arthur Melo on a season-long loan.
They also have the option of making the move permanent for a reported fee of around £33 million.
However, according to the aforementioned article, Jurgen Klopp’s team is moving quickly to find a long-term solution to their midfield problems.
James Milner, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago Alcantara, the team’s first-choice midfielders, are all over 30 years old, so they should be replaced as soon as possible.
They will gain comfort from rumors that Inter are willing to sell Barella, but according to Calciomercato, the Serie A powerhouses are only considering moving on from Barella next summer.
Liverpool, on the other hand, is attempting to reach a winter transfer agreement.
The midfielder now carries a £60 million price tag from Inter. Whether the Reds contact Inter in January even with Arthur on board this summer is still up in the air.
Liverpool has had a rocky start to the 2022–23 Premier League campaign.
Liverpool’s performance in the current Premier League campaign has been inconsistent.
They have had limited choices in midfield as a result of the injury issue, which is having a direct impact on their performance.
The Reds have nine points after six games and are now ranked sixth in the league.
So far, they have only won two games, drawn three, and lost one to their bitter rivals Manchester United.
