GOAL! Watch Gabriel Martinelli’s sensational goal vs crystal palace
Arsenal led Crystal Palace 1-0 at half-time after making a confident start to the new Premier League campaign.
Gabriel Martinelli got the first goal of the new season, heading home from close range after a well-worked corner from the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta has handed competitive debuts to William Saliba, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, while Cheick Doucoure was given the nod in midfield for Palace.
The Gunners made a quick start at Selhurst Park, with Jesus in particular looking just as sharp as he did in pre-season.
He burst into the box in the opening minutes, poked a shot at goal and the ball fell for Martinelli, who somehow fired wide from six yards out.
The Brazilian made up for that though, putting the finishing touch on a set-piece that Zinchenko had headed back across goal.
Palace grew into the match after that, with Wilfried Zaha causing some problems on the left, and Odsonne Edouard should have levelled things up but saw his header brilliantly saved by Aaron Ramsdale.
