Last year, Luis Diaz, a forward for Liverpool, had an immediate impact at Anfield, but Paul Merson has cautioned the Colombian that things will be “harder” this year.

Paul Merson, who spoke to SportsKeeda, stated that he thought Diaz was a “great” football player, but that he will have ‘new challenges’ this year.

Paul Merson predicts that as time goes on, opponents will start to tire Diaz out more.

Luis Diaz is “on the radar this time around,” according to the analyst, as opposed to last season when he was more of an unknown.

He continued that “team talks from opposition managers” last season “wouldn’t really have been about” Diaz and That could very well change this term.

After joining Liverpool from Porto in January of last year, the Columbian did have a fantastic start to life there.

Over the course of 15 Premier League and Champions League starts, he was able to accumulate 10 goal-related contributions while blending in smoothly with the Liverpool front three.

In spite of the fact that defenders will be a little more familiar with Diaz next season, Jürgen Klopp will be cheering for him to continue to improve at Anfield.

Following Sadio Mané’s departure, he will play a bigger part in the squad, and with time, he’ll undoubtedly only get better.

Diaz will always be more driven to maintain his starting birth because of the tough competition he confronts at Liverpool.

He has the difficult challenge of preventing a player as talented as Diogo Jota from joining the team, who naturally also prefers to play the left forward position.

With Diogo Jota sidelined and new acquisition Darwin Nez likely needing some time to adjust to the Premier League, Salah and Diaz are basically Liverpool’s only reliable goal scorers.

Diaz will face challenges this season, Merson is correct but hopefully he does well under the pressure.
