Liverpool FC player ratings and scores after the 2-0 win against Leicester City in the Premier League at Anfield.
The victory ensured Liverpool closed the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City to nine points as Diogo Jota’s double earned Jurgen Klopp’s side a 2-0 victory.
Alisson Becker 7
Decent stop from Maddison early on and punched one corner clear. Kept things steady second half.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 7
Coughed up possession a couple of times but a constant attacking threat with his crosses and delivery from corner created the first goal.
Joel Matip 8
Dealt with Daka first half and had time to bring the ball out from the back on occasion. Resolute when up against Iheanacho in closing half-hour and clever assist for Jota’s second.
Virgil van Dijk 8
Strong when required defensively and extremely sharp in terms of both pace and reading of the game. Header forced the opener, and some good interceptions during bouts of Leicester pressure after break.
Andy Robertson 7
Almost got on the end of one cross first half and already signs of an understanding with Diaz down the left. Regular overlaps bothered Leicester.
Fabinho 7
Helped Liverpool gain the early initiative and ability to win and recycle the ball kept Leicester penned in for periods. Solid.
Thiago Alcantara 8
Pressed very well and used the ball intelligently and swiftly. Wide with one acrobatic overhead kick, and some decent tackles. Very good performance.
Curtis Jones 6
Carried the ball well in the opening stages but alarmed the crowd by take a few too many risks near his own area before the break. Subbed.
Diogo Jota 8
The attacker Looked a little lost on the right with all his best work coming when coming central, and was in that area to sneak in the opener. Moved to permanently the middle on the hour and instantly more influential, not least with second.
Roberto Firmino 6
Flitted in and around the Leicester back line while linking the play in trademark fashion and forced the corner for the opener. Twice tested Schmeichel, but a little loose on the ball at times. Booked and subbed.
Luis Diaz 7
Started extremely brightly and clearly keen to impress his employers with some decent runs and pressing. One shot deflected wide second half. Subbed after fine full debut.
Mohamed Salah (for Firmino 60) 8
Hit the cross bar with one curling effort and forced save from Schmeichel after one outrageous piece of skill inside the area.
Harvey Elliott (for Jones 60) 7
More minutes for the youngster, who instantly combined well with Salah down the right.
Takumi Minamino (for Diaz 90) 7
