Virgil van Dijk reveals who is going to take his place in Liverpool defence
Virgil van Dijk has revealed his possible replacement at the back line of Liverpool.
Liverpool Centre back Virgil van Dijk has made an admission as the Liverpool squad have kept with tradition and lifted the spirits of children, parents, and staff at Alder Hey hospital by making a surprise visit.
In the video posted on Liverpool’s YouTube channel, the Dutchman was asked who was his favourite Liverpool player, but the Reds number four came back with a response that supporters of the club won’t want to imagine.
Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez sat at either side of Van Dijk in the festive video where the Dutchman spoke concerning the future.
One fan praise of Van Dijk led to the number four saying: “These two are going to take my place at one point though.”
Gomez has struggled for minutes this season after suffering a serious knee injury just over a year ago.
With Van Dijk and Joel Matip back to fitness and at the top of their games, the England international has had to be patient, but at just 24-years-old, he has plenty of time left to play good football at Liverpool.
Konate’s signing from RB Leipzig in the summer has proved a masterstroke as the 22-year-old has slotted in seamlessly when required and looks as though he has all the qualities to go on and be a world-class center-back.
