£79m Liverpool transfer traget really thinking about a move to Anfield this summer

After evaluating his options this summer, Kim Min-Jae of Napoli is thinking about moving to Liverpool.

Apparently, the Reds are’very interested’ in signing the 26-year-old, according to French outlet Footmercato.

It’s claimed that this is a possibility of interest to Kim, or more specifically, to his agents. To that effect, the player’s entourage are said to have ‘opened the door’ on a move to Liverpool.

Although Kim is reportedly “in no hurry” to leave Napoli, his management is reportedly “clearly debating” the possibility of him becoming a star at Anfield.

The South Korean might be available since this summer a reasonably affordable release clause will go into effect. Kim is reportedly being sought after by PSG in addition to Liverpool. However, Napoli is reportedly trying to stop this by offering their star defender a new deal.

According to Footmercato, the Serie A leaders will offer Kim a new contract with a £79 million release clause. The player’s advisors, though, are reportedly “not yet unified” in their recommendation that he remain in Naples.

However, it has been revealed that no “formal” communication between clubs has occurred despite the apparent negotiations with middlemen. In addition, Napoli won’t start talking about a transfer until the campaign is completed.

Kim would be the best addition for Liverpool as they look to strengthen their defence throughout the upcoming transfer window.

Although Napoli appears to be trying to increase his release clause, it is currently set at about £44 million. There is no better center-half in Europe at that price. In reality, it will be money well spent even if Liverpool does pay the rumoured £53 million.

Truly, Kim has been brilliant this season. The Partenopei’s more glamourous attacking stars may have stolen the headlines in a stellar campaign.

The 26-year-old may be a little older than some supporters may prefer, but he’s still yet to enter his peak. With Virgil van Dijk needing to be managed a little better than he has been in the last two seasons, Kim could be the man to take that pressure off.

His deal might yet enable Liverpool to make a costly purchase in 2024, such as Josko Gvardiol, due to his comparatively cheap release clause. At a comparable cost, they might wager on a younger player, or they could purchase Kim as a pre-made bundle. It makes perfect sense . Reds, keep up the pressure on the agents and turn his head.
