“You have to accept the decision” – Klopp ready to accept any outcome from Liverpool owners after Potter’s Chelsea sacking
Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp has discussed his future at the club while breaking his silence on Graham Potter’s Chelsea sacking.
After less than seven months in charge, Chelsea fired Potter on Sunday after the west London club’s 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa.
The former Brighton manager lost for the eleventh time in his 31 games as Blues manager, having only taken over for Thomas Tuchel in September 8.
Even though Chelsea has spent more than £550 million on new players during the summer transfer window, they are currently 11th in the Premier League, around 12 points below the top four.
Klopp addressed his future following Liverpool’s humbling 4-1 loss against Man City.
The German said: “I don’t like the fact I have to rely on [the past success] but I am fully here, we have to sort it.
We cannot just continue playing how we do from time to time. I am really disappointed about us that we do this but it happens. We have to find a way out.”
The Liverpool boss, who has been under pressure this season, also broke his silence on Sunday’s dismissals.
Liverpool are currently eighth in the table, eight points behind Manchester United in fourth.
When asked about the Potter and Rodgers’ respective sackings, Klopp said, via the Liverpool Echo: “What can I say? The elephant in the room is why am I still sitting here in this crazy world?
“Last man standing! So, I think both clubs are not where they expect to be. I respect [Potter/Rodgers] a lot. Good people, fantastic managers.
“That’s part of the business, but that is it. Last week (Julian) Nagelsmann and now these two.
“The season is in a decisive part. People are afraid of not reaching their targets.
“I think it’s 12 (sackings) now, which is an awful number.
“I think some clubs are underachieving, us too. There are expectations out there, rightly so and if you don’t reach them, you have to accept the decisions.”
