Don Hutchison, a former player for Liverpool, thinks that only Lionel Messi, now at the end of his career, was superior to PSG and Brazilian forward Neymar Jr.

However, despite the 30-year-seeming old’s availability, teams like Jürgen Klopp’s won’t want to sign him.

“He is a talent. In his pomp, there was only Messi technically better than him,” Don Hutchison told ESPN.

“He was that good. You look at the top four teams outside of England, no one can afford him.

“Then there are teams like Liverpool, who don’t really want him because he wouldn’t fit into their system.

“I think he must put his head on the pillow every night and think ‘why on earth did I make that move when I was flying at Barcelona, with Messi and Luis Suárez, to go to PSG?’ No disrespect to PSG.

“I read all the headlines back in the day. He wanted to be out of Messi’s shadow and win a Ballon d’Or. But it never felt like the right move.”

Even on a loan, Neymar’s wages would be a major setback, but that is just the beginning of the reasons Liverpool would not be interested in signing him.

His pressing statistics are also lacking, and the Reds already have a strong attack.

Raphinha transfer ‘bid’ claim

According to sources in Spain, Liverpool is one of three clubs that have made an offer for Leeds United winger Raphinha (relayed by Paisley Gates).

The Brazilian international, who is worth over £60 million, is reportedly a target for Chelsea and Barcelona as well.

According to the sources, the Reds are willing to pay that amount, but Raphinha would still want to move to the Camp Nou.

However, Liverpool would not be willing to spend that much money on a player who would effectively serve as a backup plan in the event that Mohamed Salah got hurt.

They are not now looking for a replacement after signing the Egyptian to a new contract; otherwise, they would not have bothered making an offer if they knew Raphinha preferred to move to Barcelona.
