Nunez’s head was set to play one more pivotal role, though, as he stooped low to finish off the curtain-raiser in style to make it 3-1 for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Liverpool have sent a strong message to City with this victory ahead of the 2022/23 campaign having finished just a point behind Pep Guardiola’s team last season in the Premier League
