Unbelievable scene as Jordan Henderson intervened after a Liverpool fan stole his shirt from a child
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson intervened after giving his shirt to a little boy, only to see another fan take it from him. Take a look at what happened below.
Jurgen Klopp’s side secured a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday at Selhurst Park to close the gap on tap toppers Manchester City.
The Reds captain moved toward the away end at Selhurst Park and gave his shirt to a youngster in the crowd.
Surprisingly, Someone snatched it away however and Henderson noticed immediately.
The England International can be seen approaching the crowd and gesturing towards who took the shirt, insisting he gives it back.
Stewards are also alerted to the situation and attempt to sort it all out.
Manager Jurgen Klopp can be seen in the background celebrating with supporters after a tough away trip.
Virgil van Dijk, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Fabinho were on target for the reds which was more than enough to secure all three points for the Reds, with Odsonne Edouard getting a consolation goal for Palace on the night.
Patrick Vieira’s side kept up the pressure before Liverpool won a controversial penalty in the 89th minute.
Diogo Jota went down after a challenge from Guaita and referee Kevin Friend was asked to consult the VAR monitor.
He reversed his initial decision and Fabinho buried the penalty to secure the three points. Patrick Vieira was furious with the decision at full time and didn’t understand how a penalty was given.
Speaking to The Guardian after the match he said “That was a really poor decision from the referee.
“I looked at it from every angle and I still don’t understand how that can be a penalty. In meetings with the referees, they explained to coaches that contact is part of the game, and if there is no obvious contact there is not going to be a penalty.
“Here, there was no way Jota – who I believe was really smart, and the referee quite naive – could get the ball back and try to score. That decision took our hope away of getting back into the game and getting a point.”
