The “mechanism’ in Mac Allister’s contt that could facilitate Liverpool’s summer move
There has been another update on the reds chances of acquiring Alexis Mac Allister, who is quickly rising to the top of the list of prospective midfield reinforcements for Liverpool this summer.
According to The Athletics writer David Ornstein : ‘It is understood the terms [of his new contract] do, indeed, contain a mechanism which can be used to help facilitate a move and that has contributed to the level of interest building to prise Mac Allister from Brighton.
‘This is thought not to be a typical release clause other clubs may simply trigger, leaving the player to choose next step, but a more complex feature that gives Brighton a say over the outcome.
‘As a result, the situation is not a foregone conclusion and there is no agreement in place for Mac Allister to leave the Amex Stadium. Although that could well materialise — the same applies to team-mate Moises Caicedo — but firm decisions are unlikely to be made until the campaign ends’.
The 24-year-old’s contract appears to have an unusual clause that allows clubs to initiate contact with Brighton if they make a specific financial offer, but the Seagulls are not required to accept these bids.

The purpose of this’mechanism’ is therefore called into question because it appears to be no different from other transfers in that the parent club has the final say about whether or not its player departs.
The Argentine midfielder is undoubtedly a highly talented player who has Premier Leaguemidfielder is undoubtedly a highly talented player who has Premier League experience, a World Cup victory, is of a good age, and wants to be available for a transfer. He also has experience playing in the Premier League.
There are high hopes for people from the AMEX Stadium to be in Europe next year, therefore should the Reds pull off an incredible top-four finish, this may well help us sweeten any potential trade.
There will be a long summer ahead, but for now, players and clubs must concentrate on finishing this season strongly to determine where they stand going into the transfer market.
