Shocking as Liverpool star is excluded in Erling Haaland’s best three football players in the world
Borussia Dortmund forward Erling haaland has named his top three best players in the world at the moment, with Lionel Messi included, but surprisingly Liverpool’s star forward Mohamed Salah was excluded from the list.
Haaland’s time at Borussia Dortmund is gradually coming to an end and he eyes a move to his next club. His time at Dortmund is expected to finish in the summer, with all of Europe’s biggest sides on alert.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to top European clubs the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid have, and, considering how much they’ll have to spend to sign him, whichever club lands him will be expecting a big return.
The Norway international moved from Molde to Red Bull Salzburg to Dortmund, raising his quality each time, but if he wants to become one of the best in the world he’ll have to step up again.
And if Haaland is setting his sights that high, and you imagine he is, then he has his eyes set on three extremely good players who he believes are the best in the world at the moment.
“Top 3 in the world,” he said whilst talking to ESPN.
“You have to say [Robert] Lewandowski is number one and then for me you have [Karim] Benzema, he’s also been amazing, but [Lionel] Messi is also outstanding.
“So Benzema and Messi share second and third place.”
Lewandowski and Messi have each won one of the world’s best player awards in recent months, and not everyone agrees with the latter’s award.
The Bayern Munich striker missed out the year before because they decided to delay the award due to Covid, with Messi saying the Polish forward should have been awarded it in 2020.
‘Lewa’ has at least got his hands on the past two editions of the FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year award, beating Messi and Mohamed Salah earlier this month.
The exclusion of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah on Haaland’s list might come as a shock to many, but Benzema, has also been in excellent form in the past year and many tipped the Real Madrid striker to win the Ballon d’Or.
Salah has set many records in the colours of Liverpool last season and the current season, including becoming the top African scorer in the Premier League history, taking him past Chelsea icon Didier Drogba with 107 goals and counting.
