Before Chelsea acquired Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2020, the reds reportedly made an attempt to sign the German.

Former Liverpool and Chelsea right-back Glen Johnson believes he wouldn’t be shocked if Jurgen Klopp tried to sign Timo Werner for the reds.

The German international was expected to join Jurgen Klopp’s team because the Premier League and Champions League champion boss might turn the flop around.

Prior to calling off a transfer in 2020, the Reds had the former RB Leipzig attacker as their top striker target.

But after a year, his time with the Blues appears to be coming to an end, and Chelsea is ready to sell.

Johnson thought it was unlikely that Liverpool would make a surprise play for the 26-year-old.
