Reports: Liverpool FC still interested in young French sensational midfielder despite agreement with Chelsea
Liverpool are still interested in french and Bundesliga side RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku despite a reported agreement with Chelsea.
In recent months, there has been a lot of speculation about Christopher Nkunku leaving Leipzig.
The French forward has a €60 million release clause that goes into effect as of the summer of 2023, according to BILD (via Fussball.News).
After some outstanding performances for Leipzig, it makes sense that Nkunku is gaining interest from a number of clubs.
Now that Chelsea and Nkunku have reached an agreement in principle over a transfer for next summer, journalist Fabrice Hawkins has confirmed it, although Liverpool is still in the running.
According to the report, Nkunku has already cleared a medical check before moving to Chelsea, but Liverpool may try to entice him with a move to Anfield.
Nkunku may have to choose between Chelsea and Liverpool, both of which are set to be participating in the Champions League.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see more of the top teams in Europe snooping around Nkunku because of the release clause that will be in effect as of next summer.
