“No, I’m not afraid of him leaving” – Liverpool set to raid Benfica as they recieve final transfer decision from Benfica’s boss on superstar Enzo Fernandez
The Reds are keen for a midfield signing before the end of the transfer window but another raid on Portuguese giants Benfica looks to be off the cards with a warning having been sent to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
Enzo Fernandez will remain with Benfica for “a long period,” despite interest from Liverpool, according to the warning.

Following an injury crisis on Merseyside, Jurgen Klopp has been anxious to add a midfielder to his squad and the Reds have been linked with a deal for the Argentinian in recent days.
Early in the season, a lot of the team’s midfield options have been ruled out.
A trade is difficult to complete with less than 48 hours left in the summer transfer window, especially as Fernandez only joined Benfica from River Plate earlier this summer.
Joelinton is a target for Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp makes a major U-turn.
When questioned about possible interest in the midfielder, Roger Schmidt, the manager of Benfica, expressed peace.
As quoted by Portuguese outlet Record, he said: “No, I’m not afraid. He feels good here, it’s the perfect place to develop.
“He’s a great player, a great person, he’s focused, professional and knows what he does when he comes here. Everything came together at the right time, I think he will be here for a long time, half a year is not enough.”
The 21-year-old Fernandez just recently signed a five-year contract at the Estadio da Luz for for €10 million (£8.5 million).
He’s had a successful start to life in Portugal, scoring three goals in his first seven games, including one in his league debut against Arouca.
Despite this, Liverpool will remain optimistic that their good relationship with Benfica will help them get a deal.
With the expensive signing of Uruguayan attacker Darwin Nunez, for whom Liverpool agreed to spend a potential club record £85 million this summer, the Reds have already conducted business with the Portuguese powerhouses.
In the event that the Reds are unsuccessful in signing Fernandez, it seems that Klopp has a large pool of midfield options to choose from.
Numerous players, like Frenkie de Jong, Toni Kroos, Konrad Laimer, and others, have been linked to moves to Anfield, and recent rumors have stated that Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham had already reached an agreement.
Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has said that he is happy whether a midfielder is signed or not despite the club’s ongoing search for one.
