Liverpool table £40 million to seal deal for relegated Premeir League star midfielder

Liverpool are interested in sounding the Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia at the end of the season.

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool have already approached Southampton about a potential summer transfer. However, they will have competition from teams like Chelsea and Arsenal.

The defensive midfielder, who is 19 years old, has performed brilliantly for the Saints despite their relegation, and it is anticipated that he will sign with a major club this summer.

Lavia

Lavia would be a good long-term addition for Liverpool this summer as they need to bolster their midfield. In the middle of the park, he will bring some much-needed defensive discipline and physicality.

Liverpool is now attempting to thwart the deal since it appears that Chelsea is also working behind the scenes to sign the player.

The 19-year-old needs to sign with a team where he can play first-team football on a regular basis, including Chelsea and Liverpool.

Liverpool have lost Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner on free transfers this summer. On the other hand, Chelsea are expected to lose Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante.

Liverpool is reportedly very close to signing Alexis Mac Allister, and if the deal for the Argentine international is done, they’ll attempt to add Lavia.

He moved to Southampton from Manchester City last summer.

The Premier League winners have a buyback clause of over £40 million in the contract of the midfielder, which will go into effect in the summer of 2024.

It makes sense for Southampton to attempt to sell him this summer for a greater asking price, but it is still unclear where he will ultimately wind up.
